Cold rolled steel
Cold rolled steels are steels that are shaped by high pressure rollers at normal temperature in the steel mill. Cold rolling work hardens the material substantially. This steel can be quickly identified by its smooth finish.
Due to work hardening cold rolled steel is a bit tougher and not quite as machinable as is hot rolled steel. A cold rolled steel can be either a mild steel or a high carbon steel. See also hot rolled steel
