The diameter of the finished hole is exactly twice the offset of the boring bar. This means that for every .001 of tool adjustment you will get .002 of change in hole diameter. R.S.
To make the finish pass, loosen the locking screws and dial in the micrometer adjusting screw to the finish size. Re-tighten the screws to lock the boring bar

Make a single pass. Now take another cut (called a spring pass) without touching the micrometer adjustment screw. The spring pass is explained on the next page.
